Earth Day: Together we CAN make a difference

EARTH HOUR - 7.30pm to 8.30pm - Saturday March 31, 2007

Earth Hour is a fabulous opportunity for you and your family to do something about climate change. On one night, in one hour, more will be done, more will be demonstrated, and more will be learned than through a
hundred ‘talk-fests’. And you can help make it happen.

What is Earth Hour?

It sounds simple, but it is very, very dramatic. At 7.30pm on March 31st 2007, we will be encouraging companies, government departments, individuals and families to turn off their lights for just one hour. If we meet our objectives during the first Earth Hour, the savings in green house gas emissions will be the equivalent of taking 75,000 medium sized cars off the road for one whole year! Now that’s something worth doing.

Why?

The facts are alarmingly clear:

* The climate is changing! The 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 1990. In fact 2005 was the hottest year since record keeping began.

* More than 95% of the

Great Barrier Reef will have been destroyed by 2050 if carbon dioxide emissions aren’t reduced. (WWF-International)
* One million species worldwide are facing extinction due to climate change.

But not everybody listens to the facts. Earth Hour is your opportunity to demonstrate how a simple change in our way of life could change, and help save, our planet.

The goals of Earth Hour:

Households : Most of us use unnecessary electricity. Appliances on standby, old style light bulbs, lights left on when we’re not using them. Earth Hour will help us all to realize just how simply we can make a dramatic impact upon global warming (and our own power bills). We will see it in action.

Companies : We want companies to be involved. If every company turned off its lights when the buildings weren’t in use, and combined it with energy saving technology, we would save between 2 and 4 million tonnes of greenhouse gasses every year. Earth Hour will show
companies just how easy that is.

To make it an annual event : Out of the 8,766 hours in a year, let’s give one back to the earth.

What you can do:

Sign up to Earth Hour and Pledge to turn off your lights on March 31st from 7.30pm to 8.30pm by logging onto <http://www.earthhour.org>
www.earthhour.org

You will receive all the information you need to make Earth Hour a great success (and to cut your own energy bills in the long term). Pledging is free.

Get off standby : Turn off all the electronic equipment and appliances in your home that are not being used or are on standby. Computers, televisions, stereo equipment, phone chargers, DVD or video equipment.

Tell a friend : Spread the word about earth Hour by involving your friends, family and workmates. Get them to pledge at <http://earthhour.org/> earthhour.org and most importantly, turn off the lights at 7.30pm Saturday 31 March 2007.

Spread the word - Once you have signed up for Earth Hour tell a friend; spread the word at work; tell your boss; mention it at school, at your local sports club or society group, you can even run it past your neighbors!

Make it an event. Get your family and friends to switch off their lights as well; Take some binoculars and look at the stars; sit and talk by candlelight; Explore your backyard by torchlight; Have fun with sparklers; or just do something non-electric as a family; Have a picnic-at-dusk; pretend you are camping; or have a candlelight dinner.

For more info on Earth Hour, check out www.earthhour.org  <http://www.earthhour.org/>

EARTH HOUR. MAKE IT HAPPEN. DO THIS ! spread this message thick!

Mom’s recipe for Natural Flea Collars

Hi all,

With fleas being so bad because of the ever-rising heat index of the world (something to do with the ozone layer or something like that), mom came up with a wonderful non-irritating, completely safe flea collar for cats, dogs, any animal!  It smells so good and works wonders!  I love it as does the other 15 cats, 4 dogs and cage animals (mom made a “cage protector” using the same ingredients and attaching the collar to the cage instead of the pet).  Instead of re-writing all of this, I will just copy and paste what she did with her permission.

So, without further adue, here’s what mom discovered:

Hi Everyone,I’ve been working on a natural flea collar that would not irritate the skin, smells great, and is natural. I am happy to announce that I have finally found a wonderful combination and I want to share it with you. This is good for ANY animal.

Feel free to share it with your friends, I just ask that you give credit where credit is due.

You will need the following: (the oils are only from Young Living, of course)

1 soft collar of any kind or brand, even the one that is already on your pet will do great.

Alcohol (1/2 teaspoon)

Cedarwood oil (1 drop)

Purification oil (3 drops)

Lavender oil (2 drops)

Citronella oil (1 drop)

Thyme oil (1 drop)

Orange oil (3 drops)

Mix the above ingredients in a stainless steel bowl and soak the soft collar in it until all the liquid is absorbed. Allow the collar to dry completely prior to putting it on your pet. This collar should last up to 1 month, but if it does begin to loose it’s potency, simply remake the above mixture and resoak it.

You can add garlic oil if you so desire as fleas and mosquitoes HATE garlic. I don’t use it because YLEO does not have garlic oil yet, so I will wait until they come out with it to add it to my flea collar.

Hope you all enjoy this recipe. Happy mixing! For those who are not involved in YLEO, please feel free to visit my web site. You will find the address in my signature below. They do appear to be a bit pricey, but they are of the highest quality and are the only oils I have found that are safe enough to use on cats. Also, they are so highly concentrated and so very potent that you will only use 1-2 drops at a time and in most cases, when using them on cats, you will need to dilute them with V6 oil (from YLEO) which will make them last even longer!

Animal Communicator Judi Byers

Please feel free to cross post this information to groups and people you feel will be interested in this post.

We’ve been discussing Animal Communication in several groups that I belong to.  While some people are completely closed minded to this idea (though there are so many different ways to communicate with animals) others simply just can not get enough of this controversial subject.  So, you can only imagine our excitement when world renowned animal communicator and hands on animal healer, Judi Byers, agreed to be on our show!

Animal Echoes in the Wind - Show #28 (http://www.thepawzcauze.net/2007/03/23/animal-echoes-in-the-wind-show-28/) is jam-packed full of great information from animal communication to the importance of proper nutrition for your pets.  Lots of great information.  In fact, so much information that we had to have an hour and a half show!  Don’t forget that all of our shows are FREE to download, listen to, and share with friends from our web site.  Once removed from our web site, they are only available from our expo booths, eBay or online stores.  Enjoy!

We’ve also posted some great new videos on YouTube under both The Pawz Cauze and Foster’s Forum accounts.  When you have a chance, be sure to drop by and check them out.  Rebekah’s Crossroads is currently being uploaded as well as our fun interview with K9 dog Gator and his partner, Officer Ken Walters of the West Branch Police Post.  I even put on a training sleeve and get on the attack side of Gator……that was scary!
