Mom’s remedy for ear infections in animals

Hi Everyone,

You all know how mom loves to help people.  Well, she was sent an email about a little dog and of course we had to share it with you.  The names have been eliminated to protect the inocent from being spammed.  I hope you are able to use this information to help your beloved pet.

I was at a natural pet store this weekend and a couple walked in with their very elderly dog. I believe they said he was 19 and I think it was a basset hound. They started him on an already  prepared raw food diet about a month ago. They had just come from the vet where the dog had his ear cleaned. Apparently he’s been through 2 rounds of antibiotics which did not help. H e has a very sore and red ear. They stopped by to see if the shop owner could offer some advice since she carries homeopatic remedies. I didn’t want to stick my nose in too much but I did mention that it could be the dog going through detox. The shop owner is familiar with the couple so I was thinking about calling to check on the dog. The poor thing was in so much pain and he smelled like those poor animals that get hit by cars and bake in the sun for a few days. I’m sure it was his ear and I wasn’t even that close to him.  I was wondering if you had any suggestions.
Thanks.

Here was mom’s reply:

Sounds like you are on the right track about the detox thing! That poor little dog has 19 years of gunk to get rid of!!!!! Plus, bassett hounds have long ears which will hold in moisture and thus will cause yeast infections. I’m sorry to say, but antibiotics will not take care of a yeast infection nor will it help this dog, only hurt it.

The first thing I would do if I was in charge of this dog (and feel free to print this out and give it to the shop owner or the dog owners) would be to put it on probiotics and take away the antibiotics. the next thing I would do is to give the dog Arnica Montana for the pain. (someone else on our group uses another product for pain that is good as well-please search our archives for that product because I can’t for the life of me remember what it is and I wanted to order some of it-go figure!)

Once the dog is no longer in severe pain, I would then flush that ear out with distilled water using one of those ear suction things then I would sterilize it once I was finished. I would then dry the ear really well and in a dark small 1 ounce squeeze bottle I would mix the following Young Living oils: 10 drops of each lavender, clove, and purification then I would top the bottle off with V6 oil. This is the very mixture I use on Sasha (my 11 year old terrier mix) when her ears act up and get yeasty or bacterial infectious due to allergies. I would apply this oil mixture to the outer part of the inner ear without dripping any oils in the ear canal. I would rub the oils around the opening of the ear canal and just on the inside of the ear canal then I would rub a few drops of the oil mixture around the outside of the ear base. I would apply the oil mixture 3 times a day.

If they want to try this mixture and want it already mixed, I sell this particular mixture in a 1 ounce bottle for $15.00 and that includes shipping and handling costs. It is called “Witch’s Brew for Pets-Ear Infections” and to order, they can visit my web site and purchase it via Paypal. I will have those products available for purchase by tomorrow evening. www.fosters-forum.com

I know that this mixture works very well. Sasha used to have severe problems like you described on a regular basis. When I became a Young Living Distributor, I started trying different blends on her and came up with this blend. Here’s why:

*Lavender will calm and soothe the skin that is inflammed. It also has tons of heling properties as well as cell rejuvination properties giving extra benefits when applied to cuts (there will be little to no scar when using lavender oil).

*Clove will kill the pain and make the ear comfortable. It also attacts viruses and yeasts!

*Purification says it all just in the name! This oil will kill bacteria and will help to purify that ear and kill the infection!

*V6 oil is used to dilute the mixture to a soothing balance. It also helps to protect the ear by applying a breathable barrier that will keep out irritants and softens the scaley infected skin.

When I first used this mixture, I seen an improvement in her ears within a few days! They were completely cleared up in less than 2 weeks! Now, I just use it for maintenence on all of my animals, including my cats!

I hope this helps!
